Introduction

District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB)

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) was created in the District Social Services Administration Board Act in 1998. The Board is made up of nine locally elected political representatives, six  from the City of Sault Ste. Marie, one from Prince Township and two from  the Sault North Planning Board Area. These areas represent the geographic jurisdiction of the Board.

The DSSMSSAB, through Social Services, is responsible for the provision and delivery of Ontario Works, Early Years Services and Housing Services.  

The City of Sault Ste. Marie / Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, are contracted by the DSSMSSAB, for the delivery of Emergency Medical Services (Land Ambulance).

The Drug Strategy Committee cultivates a holistic approach to address our community substance use issues and provides information on the research and resources available to support the ongoing work. Together we can save lives and improve the well-being of our community.
